With one final heave, Vara'l pushed through into the Medical bay. His movements assisted by another officer. His son also trying to help as much as a 10/11 year old happened to be able to be able assist. Once out of the Jeffries tube hatchway Vara'l stumbled over to a medical bed. Stumbled over and just about managed to not then collapse as he instead proceeded to lean over the bed and softly groaned. "That..was an ordeal."

Lhi was here in med bay just on a table. He was fully conscious and awake, but deaf and blind and paralysed from the shoulders down. He could move his head side to side but that was about it. Lhi kept thinking about how much he missed his bestie Fives and the time they 'swam' in the pool and then chatted at the duck pond. Hopefully this would be over soon so he could invite Five out again for some frolicking fun. If he had to do so in a wheelchair so be it, he just wanted to be able to be with his friends.

In most days, it would be rather difficult to put Jenaha in a bad mood as a Betazoid security officer. Today was not one of those days for the ACOS however, because she was given what could be one of the worst wake up calls she had ever experienced a few days after she had stepped back to duty in 777. Long story short, she was awoken by an extremely sharp migraine and the realization that she was fully blind in one eye, but was overall still okay other than a lingering headache. "Hello?" She said as she arrived to the medbay shortly after the others, jefferies tubes were super not fun, ,but the sight of a little kid and the two liberated borg officers was already not a good sign as she tried to mentally piece up what's currently going on.

Xuan was up and about in medbay just doing their thing. The good thing was Xuan had no mechanical devices on them at all, surprisingly enough. Their elachi parts were all organic, thankfully, so fully functional. They looked at the tiny Romulan child who approached them and then at the ACOS who had just entered the room. "Jolan tru," They said to the security officer. "Alright, what can I do for your father?" Thank the elements that this Romulan kid spoke Rihannsu because Xuan did not know a lick of Standard. They knew Trill, and Trill sign language, but not Standard, surprisingly enough.

"All his metal stuff turned off and he collapsed, mr Commander Mat..mat.." He paused then as he tried to work out how to phrase the word. "Materyx?" The Romulan kid trailed off a moment. "He really isnt feeling well and he's deaf a-and hes trying to hide how bad hes feeling cause I'm here but Captain Mo mo said hes on a-a time limit!" The kid declared as his voice coloured with deep worry.

"The ACMO is not around right now, it's alright I got this, don't worry, I know Rihannsu sign language too," Xuan reassured the kid with a gentle smile and then headed to go assist the liberated Borg Romulan they could only assume was the kid's dad. Xuan led the man towards one of the bio beds and signed to him that they were going to do their best to keep him comfortable and if the man could communicate to them his pain level and where the problems were. It was times like these that Xuan was thankful for being mute during their younger years, else they would have never learned these alternative ways of communication.

As his legs screamed silently out in pain at the discomfort of movement with now inactive and suddenly present metal that shouldn't be there in it and one started to buckle, Vara'l winced. Winced as his legs buckled and he discretely controlled his descent to the floor. Controlled it as he looked to Xuan and in Rihannsu groaned. "Hello, I'm..in a bit of discomfort, hi." His tone unknowingly off pitch, his current deafness unknowingly announced by it.

Arn. Xuan tr’Khnialmnae | MED BOT 18-May-24 01:53 PM
With one swift motion, Xuan lifted the Romulan ACTO up and hoisted him onto the bio bed. Vara'l was taller than the average humanoid, however standing in at 6'7 and a trained fencer, Xuan had the upper body strength to lift many things, including the 6'4 ACTO. Working with the emergency lights wasn't an issue either as one of the perks of their elachi-fied physiology was their eyes adjusted to dark light a little faster than average. The man was suffering from pain in his legs, something that had to do with his implants? Xuan turned to the tactical officer and gestured in Rihannsu sign, 'Can you tell me where your Borg implants are? I want to give you something for the pain, but I can't use any scanners.'

Lt. Cdr. Vara'l tr'Hara | TAC BOT 18-May-24 02:08 PM
Vara'l signed one handedly after he worked with Xuan and allowed himself to be popped onto a biobed "Head, side of skull, cochlear implants, a number in my legs, spine, upper chest." He signed as he outlined what he was implanted with. "Was a tactical drone."

Telim scampered over to his father and Xuan again briefly as he chimed in. "Dad talked about having one or two things from back in the state too" The kid had then moved off and headed over to Lhi. He stopped a distance away but watched them a moment. He wished he was confident enough to ask if one on the adults happened to know if they knew deaf/blind sign.

Xuan nodded in acknowledgement from the ACTO. So an injection could work if anything to alleviate some of the pain. Xuan's first instinct was to go to the medical replicator to get a hypo, only to remember-- no power so a syringe. Just as they were going to where they thought the syringes were, the little kid piped up and said something about.. The... "... Excuse me, the 'state'? You mean the Republic Navy, right?" Xuan wanted to make sure they heard it right. They had sworn an oath as a doctor but to think this man could have once served that regime it.. Honestly made their skin crawl, so much their symbiont Sul'hoth did a little roll in their stomach.

Lhi moved his head slowly, it was the only thing he could move. His eyes were open and visually he looked fully aware of his surroundings aside from the lack of movement below his shoulders. "Am I dead? I can't hear or see anything... is anyone there?" Lhi could feel his vocal cords vibrating, but whether or not the sounds were coming out his mouth was a mystery.

He then looked to Xuan "Doctor, the other persons awake!" the kid proceeded to say before he then, after he paused for a moment, reached out and tapped Lhi's hand. Tapped it and then in Romulan blind/deaf sign signed. "Do you know tactile sign?"

Xuan watched the kid scurry away and decided to just focus on helping the patients for now. They found the syringes and was able to administer the painkiller. It wasn't very strong, but it was all they had and without the ability to do scans on the ACTO, Xuan was hesitant to try anything stronger than Ibuprofen. "I am sorry to hear about that, sir. You should feel better soon," Xuan walked over to Vara'l and lifted his arm so they could feel for where the veins were to administer the pain killer. "If the pain persists, let me know. For now, limit movement, your son is safe here for now," Xuan kept their professionalism about them, but they felt as if they were going against every moral fiber of their being. They had a duty to uphold though, which was stronger than any personal vendetta they held for any and all who had once served that regime.

"My implants do everything for me. .My eyes, my ears, even my spinal cord, it's all Borg. Somehow my nervous system is organic... I'm sad, I want to hear things, I want to see things. How is Five of Eight? Do you know who that is? I want to tell them I'm ok," Lhi said, thinking first about his dear friend who he hoped wasn't worrying about him but he had a feeling they were.

Ts'Oclas had appeared from the tubes not too long ago. Unfortunately his medical knowledge went about as far as a first aider. He was mostly there to take notes for doctors, pass them things, measure out doses. Like a perma-med student. He had heard something about the UTs, but wasn't sure what was happening. "[Is there anything I can help with? Ensign Ts'Oclas, son of Jork'on. I'm a ward clerk.]" Ts'Oclas spoke out into the medical bay, in perfect Klingon. His mother tongue.

"Bless Kahless, another Klingon," Kavish was in the middle of trying to rummage through the medicine drawer to see what medications they had on hand. They didn't have many syringes so Kavish was trying to inventory their pills which would be slower acting, but much easier to administer. "The ACOS is over there," He pointed towards Jenaha. "And some others have mild pain. Probably due to implants," Kavish stated. "We have some pills but to be honest I don't know what any of them are. They do have braille but well, I'm Klingon. Could you help and find the painkillers and give them to those who can eat them? I think our goal here should make everyone comfortable and keep watch for any emergencies."

Vara'l nodded to indicate his understanding before he proceeded to sign. "Thank you, I'll try to be a better patient than Riov Samekir always said I tended to be." As he watched them, idly wondered if they'd jumped to hating him now. Not that there was anything there happened to be that he could have done that would have changed that. The people who needed to know what had happened knew and it was on his file also. Not that it helped the grief for those that the state had snatched away from him and Telim. Not that it helped how he felt about that time, even though he himself hadn't committed crimes in the state.

"Oh, dad said hes very Borg too once." Telim responded in sign after the other spoke a moment. The following words greeted with the briefest pause before Telim signed once more. "Dad and I don't know where they are, worried for them b-but im sure they're doing okay, you're currently in medical, a doctors trying to help." He trailled off a moment. "I wish I could help you, but all I can do is sit and sign and talk to you.."

"You are doing just fine," Xuan responded to Vara'l, doing their best to keep their proper bedside manner. Xuan had worked with former Free State officers, but something about hearing about one here in Starfleet of all places, and as a senior staff member? It was unsettling to say the least. But Xuan held their tongue, even if their literal gut worm was telling them to say something. They could really use Thyroid right about now, but the little skitterer was a machine and thus inoperable. "How is your pain now? The medicine should work within the hour."

"It's ok, I am happy to talk to you. I want to-- wait... I remember you, I think. The little boy from Waffle House? I remember your dad, Vara'l right? I hope this goes away fast."

Ts'Oclas was happy to hear another person, and started to follow the orders. "[Yes, sir. I'll get right to it.]" Ts'Oclas took some of the pills with him as he approached someone nearby, Lhi. He had double-checked the dosage and checked they'd be safe for most people. He was just about able to read the bottle by angling it towards the emergency lights. "[Excuse me, sir, are you experiencing any pain at all?]" Ts'Oclas, unfortunately, hadn't got the memo that the UTs were broken, so continued to speak in Klingon.

"I really liked the waffles!" When they then indicated they wanted to sleep and someone else approached he signed. "That's okay, though a adult has come over, they're trying to talk to you in Klingon." He informed them as he attempted to sign one handed to Ts'Oclas in Standard Sign first. [They're deaf and blind, can I help?] If that failed to help, he reckoned he'd have to switch to the minuscule number of signs he happened to know in KSL

Lhi spoke no Klingon, but he heard the voice of a Klingon. "Oh yes, I hear them. And I'm glad you liked the waffles, I want to eat them again too," Lhi was definitely going to go to Waffle House once this was all done. "Tell them I'm okay, but I want to take a nap. I am not in any pain, surprisingly. I'm just tired."

Ens. Ts'Oclas Jork'on | MED BOT 18-May-24 03:41 PM
Ts'Oclas did take a short class on SSL, and thankfully got most of what Telim was trying to tell him. He nodded, unsure if Telim understood Klingon. "[Are they okay? Any injuries or pain?]" Before attempting some Standard. "They hurt?"
Avatar
Telim Tr'Hara | CIV BOT 18-May-24 03:44 PM
"I'd love to too,dad was gonna take me there today but..this happened" Telim signed as he noted the comment and looked up at the Klingon. He then translated what the Romulan said into one handed SSL. ["They're okay, they're not in any pain, they just tired and want to take a nap."] He informed the other.

Ts'Oclas just about got it. From 'no pain' and 'want nap' he got that Lhi was okay, and was going to note it down before he remembered Padds were down, so he elected to try remembering it. Unfortunately, not being a doctor, Ts'Oclas wasn't sure if it was safe for Lhi to go to sleep yet. He knew that there was certain conditions where sleeping could be more harmful. So he would wait for a doctors assessment. "[Thank you. I will get a doctor shortly.]" Before making an attempt in Standard, which was broken and very muddled, barely understandable.

Guess who had arrived! It was Niwa, looking significantly bedraggled and out of breath. She had never been the sportiest of people and was seriously regretting not spending more time in the gym. Plus, climbing through the tubes while thirty weeks pregnant was not an easy feat. It had taken her a good amount of time, she had lost one of her slippers to the void of the tubes… But it was fine, because she had finally made it to the medical bay… Albeit looking like a wreck with her mangled dressing gown, short jammies, and one singular slipper. Said medical bay was busy. That was to be expected given that there was a crisis; it was always the same way around here. She was already aware that people with cybernetics or electronic prosthetics were having difficulties, and that wasn’t to mention anyone else who would have gotten hurt in the dark or injured while trying to navigate the tubes. As she stood in the entrance to the main emergency department she cast a look around, taking stock of the staff they had and the patients that were present. There wasn’t any sign of the CMO or ACMO. Other medical staff were probably having as much difficulty getting here as she had. Had anyone taken charge? She scoured the ED in the hopes of catching someone’s eye, hoping to flag them down and get an update.

After Telim had assured him that Lhi understood, he walked away, prepared to continue helping people, when he noticed a person crawling out of the tubes. He rushed over, noticing she appeared to be struggling, and reached his arm out to help her steady herself. "[Ma'am, are you alright?]" Again in Klingon, maybe he'd meet someone else who knew it.

Vara'l allowed himself to lay down more fully on the medical bed once he had finished talking with Xuan. As he laid down, he stared up at the ceiling and attempted to calm his breathing. Attempted meditation through breathing. Attempted that as his body continued to hurt, even as the painkiller kicked in. Tried to stay conscious as his body continued to reel, struggled with it's current state.

She was thankful for the assistance of whoever this was, not recognising the face. Maybe someone new? They had recently had an influx of new people after all. She allowed them to help her up and then dusted off her gown, ready to ask them for an update… Only to find them speaking something she didn’t understand a word of. This was the mission he always wanted in order to save the day, it was like he could be the hero of this occasion. Phoenix placed his hands on the vent as he flung it open as he was ready to deliver the message. Crawling out of the vent as his body gave way from all the exhaustion that was caused by all the rushing in order to establish the communication system. "Can I ask who's in charge, right now... Kind of... Out of... Breath" He said as he tried to regain some of the energy. (edited)

But they appeared to be in charge before. "[Sir? Someone wants to see whoever is in charge." He called out, attempting to get Kavish's attention. He was the only person to respond in Klingon, so maybe they were the only one who understood it.

It would appear that no one really knew who was in charge. There was an absence of the CMO and ACMO, most people were in their pjyamas so no one knew each other's ranks... She might have been stepping a little out of line here by doing this, but surely people would listen to and recognise the former ACMO. "We don't have the clocks for this. I'll be in charge."

I just need to get my energy back, then I can make my way down to engineering." Phoenix began crawling over to the wall as he took deep breaths in and out, trying to sit himself upright against the wall.

She could already tell that there were more patients than available medical staff. "Has anyone started mass-casualty protocols?"

"Okay... Give me an hour. Second. Minute? Time." Standard really sucked. For the time being she left medical in the hands of whoever was currently working before heading through the back to change into scrubs, thankful that being a surgeon meant that she always had a change of clothes ready in her locker. Emerging a minute later and looking less garbage (and now having both shoes on courtesy of having trainers in her locker), she rifled around in a storage drawer before taking out a triage kit. Now was for the fun bit: totally violating health and safety protocols, she climbed up on top of one of the nurses' station consoles so everyone could see her, and shouted as loud as she could over the din of people talking. "Medical officers! Triage is being in-placed! You, charge nurse-" she pointed to an officer she recognised, "take the triage kit. Start carding people! Let's get a system going, please!"

Taking their earplugs out, them being nothing but a hinderance now as they couldn't simply isolate dialogue while cutting out background noise, the Junior Doctor looked around to figure out where the hell they were needed. Quickly going to don a pair of gloves, they wandered over to Niwa, a familiar face and seemingly the most qualified person here right now. "Lieutenant." “It’s likely,” she stated both out loud and in sign language, already having witnessed another Liberated Borg experiencing the same. “Stay put – we’re going to try to work out a fix.” What that solution was would be the difficult part, however… But then there was a familiar voice. Thank the stars, one of her favourite junior doctors had arrived. “Doctor Quinn, you can stay me with. Charge Nurse Trinni is triaging, others are treating the worst patients. I think someone was cat… Catting the equipment?” Cataloguing, that was. It was lucky that they had old-style equipment for cases where alien physiology wasn’t compatible – and also for scenarios like this – but the amount of kit they had for such a case was limited. “We’ll do a oversweep and see where needed are.”

You could tell by the greyness of their skin that they had a lot more nanites in their blood than other liberated Borg. It was amazing they'd lasted this long at all. Once the people helping him handed Zero off to the nearest doctor, Zadki sat down against a wall, pressed the palms of his hands against his eyes, and tried very, very hard not to cry.

Shouldn’t have mentally thought about this patient being a yellow-card, she had obviously cursed the situation. She was about to trapezius pinch the Romulan to test for a response to pain when she caught sight of a newcomer being literally dragged in. Even from across the medical bay Niwa could identify them as a red-card that was about to become a black-card if they didn’t intervene. “Quinn, you have the Romulan; Klingon-speaker, you’re with me,” she stated firmly before marching in the direction of the patient who had just been brought in. As Zero was moved off, Ts'Oclas saw their companion? Partner? He wasn't sure...but he same them appear to be in some distress. He was going to approach them, but Niwa had asked him to go with her. He walked over to Zero, awaiting further instructions. "What's...problem? Injured..." Very limited Standard. He honestly felt a little embarassed. He sounded uneducated. But it wasn't the time for how he felt. It was time to be helpful.

Glancing between Niwa, the Romulan, and then the incoming very definitely obviously red card, the Junior Doctor nodded in response to the Lieutenant's instructions, taking over primary care of Vara'l instantly. "Aye Lieutenant." They replied quickly, before themself performing a trapezius pinch to test his response to pain. They wanted to talk to provide audible stimulation, but the fact of the matter is it didn't take a genius to work out he was deaf based off his previous use of sign language as they had been approaching.

It'd taken a while, but finally, the big guy himself appeared in the medbay. He was carrying a disgruntled-looking One, who managed to scowl pretty effectively even without the use of approximately half their face, and who was clinging to Alin the best they could with the use of only one arm and one leg. "Let me put them down, I'll come assist," he said in his best, least mangled Federation Standard. Multilingual struggles.

One, for their part, said nothing, just looked miffed as they were deposited into a chair and left there to fend for themselves. Their biggest problem was that they were incapable of moving approximately 35% of their body, which just happened to include both their right limbs. The nanites in their blood were relatively few, and they could survive without them functioning for a while. Honestly, the most jarring thing about all of this was the complete lack of depth perception. They were pretty attached to their last remaining (visible) Borg implant, finding a weird sort of comfort in how it visually set them apart from the masses, but right now it was just all sorts of regrettable they hadn't just gone for the option to have their eye socket rebuilt and a new eye synthesized when they had the chance.

Over with Zero, Niwa quickly cast her gaze over him for a quick primary survey. She spoke out loud as she did so, some words given in Standard and some in Solum. There wasn’t enough time to try to work out more accurate translations just now, so it’d have to do. Doing a quick primary survey was alright, but getting observations was going to be far more difficult without the biobed monitors or tricorders… And then treating things would be even worse, given their lack of functioning portable equipment. “Not injured,” she started in response to Ts’Oclas’ question, “Liberated Borg. Unresponsive to voice, unresponsive to pain; GCS3. Resp rate of 6, not maintaining their airway. All of our blood-gas infusers won’t be functioning – I’ll have to intubate. Laryngoscope, ET tube, stylet, syringe, and suction catheter please,” she requested while moving to stand at the head of the biobed. Thankfully she knew all of those words in Standard, so any of the other HCPs there would be able to hand her the equipment required.

Ts'Oclas had since grabbed a notebook and pen, and started noting down the things he was being told. It was part of his job, after all. He was pleased to hear that Zero wasn't hurt. Although, maybe it should've been more concerning. Once he was given the list of equipment, he started looking for some of it. Unfortunately, he hadn't learned all of the equipment names in Standard, so was only able to get Niwa a suction catheter and a laryngoscope. (edited)

Fully focused on the patient who was quite literally going to die without intervention, she blatantly ignored Phoenix – even if it was rude. While Niwa always tried to be as nice and polite as possible, she was a little busy right now. From a nearby box she extracted a pair of gloves and tugged them on after using hand sanitiser first, thankful that they always had such lying around as opposed to solely relying on technology to create sterile fields. “Borg nanoprobes take over cellular function within the bloodstream,” she again spoke out loud in a mix of two languages while others were returning with equipment. With one hand under Zero’s chin she performed a head-tilt/chin-lift to open his airway, before taking the laryngoscope in the other hand. “Judging from the patient’s pallor – grey, with cyanosis – most of their bloodstream is made up of nanoprobes. Anaemia from red blood cells, leucopoenia from white blood cells; thrombocytopenia from the low platelets… It’s the fastest way to full pancytopenia. His Spo2 and Sao2 have likely tanked.” The laryngoscope was inserted, although it was difficult at the angle and without the use of a torch. Emergency intubation was something that wasn’t done often any more: a blood-gas infuser was far quicker. After a moment of struggling with the ET tube, she managed to guide it down Zero’s throat and into the airway. “We’ll risk a full arrest if we don’t replace the nanoprobe functions, but we have no way of replicating either them or any blood for a standard transfusion. We can’t even type and cross for species, never mind blood type. Can someone get him started on fluids at least?”

Jena felt bad for not being able to do much, empathically aware of the earlier panic and worry experienced by some of the other patients here, but nothing much could be done whilst she's partially blind due to her ocular implant. The headache didn't do much to help either as she tried to think of what could be going on, and how the others would be doing.

Are you experiencing any pain?]" He started, in Klingon. Maybe, just maybe, they'd speak Klingon too. He had some painkillers stashed in his pocket from earlier he could offer to people who needed them, but that was about the length of his helpfulness without a doctor.

Jena was able to recognize Klingon based on her previous postings, but she isn't very fluent in it from lack of practice, but she was willing to try her best. "[I don't speak much Klingon.]" Jena said in a somewhat broken Klingon accent as she tried to recall what she learned from the past. "[Vision lost. Glad for Alin’s assistance (and the fact that he could speak Standard as well as Klingon, no offence Ts’Oclas,) Niwa was content to let him start running IV fluids. It was good to have another familiar face helping out. He finished the insertion of the ET tube by using the syringe to inflate the balloon within and keep it in place, and then let one of the nearby nurses take over bagging and performing breathing functions for Zero. It would have been easier on a vent, but the likely only place that they were still functioning was the ICU. There was no way of moving the patient there in his present unstable condition. “We need some way to sort of… Kick-start the nanoprobes back to life. I’d say electrical impulses, but there’s no viable way to generate one while still being in control of how strong it is.” The thought of trying to use some sort of jury-rigged equipment to siphon electricity from the dim emergency lights came to mind, but that was far too dangerous. “Nanoprobes usually act on their own. They’re just dormant. Something needs to wake them up… Give them a shake, you know?”

The movement assisted as hoped, their airway was maintained, though deprived of all that they'd been deprived off, his breath had started to sound more obviously abnormal as his breath shortened. ”I might - but it’s… Very experimental,” Niwa replied to One and fought back a nervous chuckle. You never wanted to show fear in front of a patient. It was contagious. She looked to any other person there first and asked, “can someone get my neuroflux kit from OR2? It’s in a sterile container box, it’s marked with my name on the front,” and then turned back to One. “Do you know your average nanoprobe count? Do you rely on a lot of them, or is your bloodstream mostly, well, blood?”

"[Yes, Pills.]" He removed the painkillers from his pocket and handed her a pill. This painkiller only required one, and then tried to find some water. But with no replicators, it might be tough. She might just have to dry-swallow it. "[Oh. I am well, thank you. Aside from your eye, how are you?]"
Avatar
Lt. One of One | SCI BOT 18-May-24 06:57 PM
One had to think about that. They knew their blood was mostly blood, but the nanoprobes still made up a significant portion of it, mostly to prevent their body from rejecting the Borg implants they still had. "I estimate around twenty-five to thirty percent of my red and white blood cell function is still carried out by nanoprobes." Not enough to be much more than annoying, even if they were starting to get a headache, and the blood was even in their body still, so it'd mostly be the oxygen deprivation that would mess with them. Hence the headache.

It sounded as though One was a good candidate for being a test subject. It wasn’t as though they had much time though; one of the nurses might have been manually performing breathing for Zero now, but with his blood cell function essentially non-existent, there was nothing transporting it around his body. As she waited for one of the porters to return with her kit, Niwa turned to Alin and lowered her voice so they could speak without making anyone nearby concerned. “…I have no idea if this is going to work. We can’t use any technology because it all requires a power-source, but neuroflux mesh is Vau N’Akat tech; it’s controlled by the mind. It’s like a mouldable metal, and in its activated state it has almost a liquid form. If I can continually keep the neuroflux mesh in that liquid state, it could be injected into the blood-stream. I’ve never used it at a microscopic level, but if nanoprobes are magnetic then I can bind them and the mesh together and try to manually stimulate them. If it works on our test patient they should feel immediate improvement – and then I can try it on a greater scale for our other patient here, and hopefully, the rest of the Liberated Borg.”

There was a good minute of preparation - sorting out the neuroflux kit, a nurse helping One to get their sleeve rolled up, swabbing the site for the injection and the likes - and then they were ready. This was already difficult enough compared to using a hypospray, but doing this and controlling the neuroflux mesh at the same time... Well, that was going to be a real test of her skills. After swapping out her gloves for a new pair, Niwa took her place beside One. With their arm propped up on the armrest and the kit on the chair next to them, it was like a mini treatment site had been set up here. Now was the strange part... Instead of drawing up a liquid into the syringe, she had to draw up liquid neuroflux. Readying herself, she took a deep breath in, held it for a moment - and as she exhaled, her eyes lit up white. The same colour washed over the grooves and furrows of her face and tendrils, lit up in a bioluminescent glow. The neuroflux mesh - which had been a solid, spiralling metal inside the sterile container - seemed to melt into a liquid form. She drew it up into the syringe and went about finding the best vein on One's arm. "Bit of a sharp scratch for you," she cautioned, before injecting the telekinetically-controlled technology in.

One had indeed had worse, even if their mind didn't remember it the way their body did. Assimilation had been worse, and even though they would never remember what that had been like, their body did, and so this injection didn't even make them flinch. If anything, they were more intrigued by what Niwa looked like and was feeling; they didn't understand anything that was happening in the slightest, but it was clear that she was doing something very interesting.

Manipulating metal technology with your mind took concentration, and it took even more concentration to use it like some sort of magnetic nanoprobe-finding instrument. She had only ever used her neuroflux kit in place of surgical instruments before, never for something like this. Maintaining the liquid state of the mesh was difficult enough as well. Breaking it down into minute fractions was no easier. It appeared that today was workout day! After a good thirty seconds of silence - and a lot of concentration - it was like a mental tug as she felt the tiny droplets of mesh connect with something metal. "I think... I might have done it?" She stated, although there was no way of telling. Now it was just a matter of using the neuroflux to stimulate the nanoprobes. If you couldn't jolt them with electricity, then maybe you could just... Vibrate them slightly? Give them a wake-up shake? It was worth a try. She was quiet for another handful of seconds before speaking again. "...Do you feel anything?"

Okay, uhm - someone gather up any other Borg we have here and bring them over, this'll be easier if everyone is in one place. We just have to do the same for all of them as well." Having been trying to pay attention to what Niwayiva had been doing as well as their own patient, Quinn was quick to realise that something successful was happening over there, and it was to do with XBs. Not being able to block out sound with their earplugs, they were instead hearing basically everything all at once, unable to filter anything out, but that also had it perks because it meant they could pick up on the odd word here and there in other folks' conversations. Deciding that there was no harm in trying, Quinn rather hastily jogged off to grab a stretcher before bringing it back a moment later. Some of its features were electrically assisted, sure, but the basic functions were entirely analogue, including the ability to override the height controls and adjust it manually. "Can I get help with a transfer please?" They called out to a nearby couple of nurses, whom were glad to briefly assist in transferring Vara'l from the biobed he was on to the stretcher. Quinn very quickly told one of the nurses to look after the child he was with, at which point the Junior Doctor began wheeling him over to the former ACMO, bringing him nearer to where she was working. "Lieutenant, his condition is worsening. GCS4, resp rate 31. Did I overhear something to do with you working on a fix for their... Their... You know, the-the Borg things?" The stress of the day had really begun getting to Quinn, with the combination of the lack of functioning equipment and general increase of background noise really feeling quite overwhelming. "That you did," Niwa answered as Quinn brought Vara'l over so he could be set on the biobed next to Zero. They had started to make a little gathering here: One in a chair against the wall, the other two in biobeds, and however many more inbound. The thought of working on three people at once was daunting, never mind even more. She was already concerned about her ability to keep this up. Normally with neuroflux technology you manipulated it for a second or so until it was the shape you wanted it to be. You didn't actively keep manipulating it, never mind in the tiniest liquid state you could get it to be in, and in the bloodstream of multiple patients at once. She was already having to split her effort, and it hadn't taken long for worry to start gnawing at her... But she kept it very strictly hidden. Keep up a brave face in front of the patients. Don't show them your concern. "I'm using neuroflux technology to bind to their nanoprobes and manually stimulate them. It seems to be working for Lieutenant One so far - hopefully, it'll work for your patient too." With that, she moved on from Zero and injected the next dose into Vara'l's bloodstream.

They'd also stabilised for now in the sort of state slightly improved than the one they'd been in. He remained paler..but his pulse had improved. Probably also safe enough to assume they were better than before. While some signs remained that probably indicated Vara'ls body really hadn't appreciated being suddenly effective deprived of several implants, it seemed that this had also assisted somewhat with that. Oddly, if his facial expressions served to indicate he was dreaming, it looked if anything like he'd been blessed with a good dream. Something which, he was unfortunately not that too regularly blessed with. *Not that anyone happened to be likely to know about that, unless they had had access to his medical file and remembered what was on there. *

Twelve slipped in at this point, her face very very pale as she was assisted in by the ensign. She'd deteriorated enroute, at first slowly but.. it had progressed as she'd worried it would. Her breaths were snatched in hitches at points and as she arrived at the door, she softly proceeded to say to the ensign that had helped her. "..Thank you for the help." As she then looked to Ten then to the nearest nurse. "I need..help but first, I've administered a antiemetic for Lieutenant Ten, his stomachs.. artificial." She'd managed. "Standard dosage." She'd then proceeded to show them the dose container. "G-got that?" As soon as she'd received the confirmation, she signed a thank you..or tried to, to them and Ten. Then her eyes had rolled up into the back of her head and she'd then proceeded to promptly lose consciousness. That of course had the expected result, she started to fall, though she was being helped by a ensign. Which probably happened to be a very good thing as she passed out and her legs proceeded to give way. (edited)

Five was wondering why so many people were unconscious. Zero looked to be in rough shape (not appearance-wise, they were quite pretty), presumably because of the amount of nanoprobes in their cells, but everyone else..hmm. It would have been instantaneous as the storm hit, and not a gradual effect, no?... Confusing. None of their business, they weren't a doctor.

He was short of breath, he leaned up agenst a wall then he hacked into his arm, a mix of blood and lunch came up. He breathed heavily and pointed to Twelve "She needs help, her legs ears are broken. And and you all need to know the the XBs nanites are failing, we are gunna die." Ten then passed out

It took a lot to try the surgeon's patience, but one of her own junior doctors deciding to state out loud, in front of multiple other Liberated Borg, that all of them were going to die was not appreciated by her. She would have told them off, mother-style, had they not promptly slumped down afterwards. Neither Ten nor Twelve hit the ground hard, assisted by the nurses and set on the biobeds. "No, there's no disease, and no, no one is going to die. I cannot fix 'broken' legs and ears which are not broken, they're down due to cybernetics and prosthetics-" she could see that from just the most basic primary survey, "but I can stop deterioration due to the failure of the nanoprobes. If you're conscious, sit still and I'll get to you. If you're unconscious, stay down for a minute until I'm finished at least." With that, she set about administering more of the liquid neuroflux to now three new patients, now six in total. How the heck was she going to keep this up, and for how long..?

Alright, well, that was Five of Eight, Ten of Forty-five, and Twelve of Twenty accounted for. With relative grace, he picked Twelve up, and hoisted her onto a biobed, before doing the same to Ten. "It might be a combination of oxygen deprivation and lightheadedness, but in either case they should be waking up soon once their bodies readjust. I think Ten was mostly being dramatic, they should have been told by the messenger that we have a cure for them." He kept a finger on both their pulses, just in case, but he was pretty sure they'd be fine.

"We assume you said think so, not 'You drink so cuddy'.. so we assume you agreed with us." Twelve commented, eyes fixed on Alin. Her pulse probably indicated combined with her looking more grey than usual that it happened that she probably shouldn't have engaged in that climb at all. How she presently looked and the tone she tried and failed to fully effect properly due to how bad her hearing happened to be at present, probably betrayed the fact she was very much aware of this. Very much aware of this and having likely just mentally kicked herself for being stupid. Something that continued to show even as she signed. "Hello, sorry about that."

He decided not to pay any mind to the weird stuff Twelve was saying, far more concerned with making sure everyone was doing okay. One seemed to have brightened up considerably, and both Zero and Vara'l were doing okay for the time being. He decided to help Niwayiva out by baring the arms of both Twelve and Ten, applying tourniquets and standing at the ready with disinfectant wipes, the less Niwa had to do the better.

Quinn was very much so not impressed with the behaviour of their own colleague. A medical profesional of all people should surely be able to determine they were not, in fact, all going to die. However, instead of commenting they continued to work as best as possible to assist the nurses in what they were doing with what little equipment everyone still had. It was stressful, but things were getting there, right? They didn't like how stressed Niwayiva sounded, though, but considering the fact she was pregnant and was currently having to assist multiple patients at once, it wasn't even remotely surprising.

She could only give the two of them a smile, but her expression genuinely did convey that she meant it. Next to head over was Lhi, another of the Liberated Borg who had been in the medical bay; and as such, they were next for an injection of liquid neuroflux. Okay, that was seven people now. Vote Niwa for the next Borg Queen 2414. "Okay, that's everyone so far. So just... Stay put, don't try to go anywhere, don't do anything daft. Talk or sign amongst yourselves, but just... Please don't do anything that would exacerbate your condition, okay?" With her pleading over, the Vau N'Akat took the seat next to One. There was a bit of shuffling as she adjusted herself and pulled her legs up onto the chair too so she could sit cross-legged. She sat there back straight as possible, hands folded beneath her baby bump, and closed her eyes so she could concentrate. All she had to do was keep these people going. Engineering and Science would work a way out of all of this nonsense soon enough and everything would go back to normal again. ...Right?

If there was one bit of Romulan culture Xuan never could wrap their head around it was the whole family thing. They didn't understand house culture and whatnot, but when you're also half Trill and your father is joined well, who is and isn't family is a bit hazy. Sometimes it felt like half the galaxy was Xuan's cousins the way their father spoke about his off-world adventures. "Some things don't have a cure, and that's alright. I'll be right back," Xuan gave Telim's hand a little squeeze before heading off to grab some water. They soon returned with two cups in hand, one for themself and one for Telim. Xuan wasn't particularly thirsty, but they knew how children were social creatures and doing an activity with them was important. "Telim tr'Cora, that's a pretty name. You could always hyphenate your name? Telim tr'Cora-Hara? Maybe it's a little bit of a tongue twister," Xuan chuckled softly before taking a slow sip of their water. A look that remained as he listened. “Thank you for the compliment a-and.. maybe..” The kid had then softly smiled when the other called that a tongue twister. “I guess it is kinda..but it seems..like a nice idea and..your name sounds really nice.” He then paused and looked to them again as he considered earlier conversations. Considered them and then elected to not mention it what he’d wondered about…it seemed like adult stuff. Not kid stuff. "I think Five is busy supporting Niwa right now, like I'm supporting you," Xuan looked towards the orange haired liberated Borg who was still next to Niwa, comforting her. His old CO also sounded like a kind soul but... A Reman name. Did this Reman also know that the ACTO used to serve under a regime who's leader literally called the Reman species 'the beasts of burden'? Did this Reman CO know that Vara'l served under.. Xuan caught themself scraping the sides of their water cup just before the compulsions became noticeable and looked back at the kid. "Your dad sounds very caring and I am glad you have someone who cares so much for you in your life," They stated, taking another breath and a sip of water. "You're doing a great job, Telim. I'm really proud of you," A part of Xuan felt bad for Telim, for having to be born during such a time in Romulan history. They were just a doctor, but they did hope they were performing their role as temporary guardian well. They had feelings about the ACTO, but Telim was innocent in all of this. Going to Mol'Rihan on shore leave sounded nice, uncle Samekir, there was that name again. Xuan had resigned themself to not understand what was going on with the Cora or Hara house, it didn't matter too much, they were here to comfort Telim, not be some Romulan political scientist. They nodded in acknowledgement, looking back at Telim and then back up at the cup as if fearing it would grow legs and walk away or something. "That sounds like a fun time, I was working on Mol'Rihan before I came here," Xuan responded with a fond smile as they thought about their family waiting for them back on their homeworld. Their mother worked, but their father was funemployed and travelled a lot. "Minecraft in the holodeck? That sounds fun, but also a little scary. It may be a little silly, but monsters in video games always make me jump," Xuan said with a soft chuckle. "Our interests can change as we get older, but that doesn't mean we won't still enjoy the things we love now," Xuan said, their eyes going back to the table for a split second, then a second time, then again. Xuan stood up a little so they could rearrange the cup and the non-functional PADD on the table. It wasn't needed, but being able to touch the objects somehow made them feel more at ease that they were actually there. "Do you prefer to play alone or with friends? "Concentrate, Lieutenant," Alin implored Niwayiva, which was a bit weird since not too long ago she was still his ACMO.... still, she needed to focus on what she was doing, and everyone else could worry about everything else. "We'll take care of this, just concentrate," he continued, pushing off of Twelve's biobed to float over to Zero and Lhi, to strap them down too.

Quinn, having been assisting with various patients here and there, had also begun floating (what a surprise). Eyes widening, as they felt themself become weightless, they immediately reached for the nearest biobed, grabbing ahold of it to stop themself going anywhere. Stressed out of their mind and only briefly glancing over at Niwayiva, they began audibly running through the protocols they had to follow, trying to give themself something to focus on and ground themself with. "Zero gravity protocols require all medical personnel to secure patients..." They said as they strapped Vara'l down to his biobed. "...And any loose equipment that my cause risk of injury upon gravity returning." The Junior Doctor continued, reaching out and trying to get ahold of various floating pieces of equipment.

Unfortunately, the chair One had been deposited on was not attached to the floor, and in fact they were currently still sitting in the chair, though they were floating somewhere near the ceiling. They just hoped the gravity wouldn't turn back on while they were up there.

"Awe bugger!" She muttered to herself, not willing to swear at the presence of a child. "Lieutenant, you're going to be fine! We believe in you." "Will do," Alin said, having finished securing all of the patients in the room. "Niwayiva, I am going to pull you down towards me, just a warning," he said, not wanting to startle her back out of her focus once two massive hands grabbed her by the arms. He pulled her down to the nearest free biobed, and instead of completely strapping her down like he would a patient, he simply secured one of the straps over her legs so she couldn't float off, but still had free range of movement in her upper body.

Lt. Niwayiva | MED BOT 19-May-24 05:21 PM
The idea of being physically strapped down somewhere also wasn't nice, but at least then she wouldn't run the risk of floating away into... Well, it wasn't as if you could go far because the ceiling was up there, but the ceiling was far enough. Sure things didn't weigh anything right now, but Alin's manoeuvring of her was still impressive. She bet that he'd still be able to lift her with the gravity on, too. Once she had been tugged down to the biobed, she held onto it with both hands and arranged herself in a cross-legged position again while Alin secured the strap over her lap. Okay. This was fine. This was... There were still syringes and gauze and all sorts floating through the air, but it would be fine. "Thank you," she stated to both Alin and Five, very much thankful to them for their help. She'd have still been panicking now otherwise.

Quiet while she sat on one of the biobeds, Niwa tried to block out any other sound. It had been well over a year since she had last used her neuroflux telekinesis, so not only was she out of practice... But she had never used it for a vastly extended amount of time before, nor in a microscopic liquid form, nor in the literal bloodstreams of seven people. She had broken into a cold sweat and her hands had started trembling from the exertion - she kept them firmly clasped together to ignore it. Some of the others might be stable enough, but there was no way she could drop her focus entirely. Not with the state that Vara'l and Zero had been in: it was far too risky. Not too much longer and all of this will be over, she hoped... Someone out there would be coming up with a solution.

She started to sign as best as she could while she happened to be strapped down to a bed. That while also not exactly.. well, even if her condition had stablized. "Hello, we're Twelve of Twenty, what's your name?" She then started to converse with the kid. While it happened that she couldn't help at all with other stuff. She reckoned she could at least try to help the kid. The kid who looked, understandably, fairly scared. Scared like someone from. No, she suppressed that dream recollection with a effort of will. Dreams were inefficient, they marred the memory with falsehoods. She was Twelve of Twenty, she was a individual. A personality in part born in Unimatrix Zero..and nursed to health in the Cooperative consciousness. Facts that remained utterly irrelevant to a conversation started and maintained with a young individual from species 3783. One called Telim. One who it turned out, happened to know Rakim. Who also liked Minecraft.

Out of nowhere the entire station went dark. There was no more emergency lighting, an absent void inside; nothing but the view from the windows displaying the swirl of the combined ion storm and inversion field outside. It was almost peaceful - until suddenly, everything lit up. Any external windows were suddenly illuminated in hues of greens, blues, and purples as the station's shields onlined, inverted, and interacted with the storm. Up and down the station a mini-aurora had formed, giving everyone the view of a truly awe-inspiring, once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon. The aurora was also accompanied by another source of light. A familiar hum suddenly kicked to life; the usual background noise of the station's engines powering on once more. Consoles lit up with a blue 'backup LCARS' screen, monitors began to chime, and both objects and people fell down to the ground as the gravity came back online again. If anyone's cybernetics had been made non-functional they now powered back on - as did any Androids who had been completely oblivious of the situation! For Liberated Borg officers, it was like a surge of energy as nanoprobes started to work at their usual rate and implants worked once more. It would appear that whatever had happened, the station was now shielded from the storm. Somewhere on 777, some rather brilliant minds had fixed things.

Zero gravity training had never been their favourite activity. Forcing themself to switch back to their training and shut their emotions away for just a moment, the Junior Doctor looked around at the consoles and reactivating biobeds, letting out a thoughtful hum as they quickly picked up one of the tricorders that had fallen on the ground during the lack of gravity, pressing the power button to hopefully turn it on. With that she untied the fastening on the biobed that had been holding her in place while gravity was off, and swung her legs over the side.
